English as a Second Language
Learn to Speak, Write, and Read English!
*Every Wednesday morning from 9:30 - 11:45 am
Our first meeting is Wednesday, August 21, 2024. All students should arrive to the Atrium lobby at 8:30am on this day to be assigned to the proper level prior to the start of classes!
There are no requirements, and we take anyone who pre-registers or walks in and desires to speak English. Classes are free, but we do ask the student to purchase a book set (if financially able) that is used in their specific class level. If you are an immigrant or international in Chattanooga, then you are invited to attend our free English classes, which are offered every Wednesday morning. We also offer childcare during class sessions, so please let us know if this is a need for your family.
If you have any questions, please contact our program director Candice Underwood at (352) 457-3550 or underclu56@yahoo.com.
Assistance Needed!
We are actively looking for nursery assistants (which are paid positions) during English as a Second Language classes each Wednesday morning starting August 21, 2024. There is also an opportunity for teaching assistants and new student interviewers. If you are interested in working in the nursery or volunteering at ESL, please call Candice Underwood (352-457-3550).
*We follow the Hamilton County school calendar when determining our class meeting times. Please be aware that changes to the class schedule may be made to align with Hamilton County requirements.

Teachers and Volunteers
In Matthew, God tells us to go and make disciples of all nations. The nations come to Concord through our ESL program. Did you know that we have the largest ESL ministry in Hamilton County? Each school year, volunteers from the church and community meet at our campus on Wednesday mornings to teach an exciting blend of students from all over the globe. But these students aren’t just learning English, they’re learning about Jesus too!
Want to become a part of this exciting ministry? There are many ways to get involved in our ESL program – teach, assist, help prepare refreshments, mentor, take pictures, or organize excel spreadsheets. You can help us in the nursery by rocking babies, teaching a craft, reading a story, or supervising playtime. For more information, please contact one of the following ESL leaders:
David Rainer, (423) 892-9313, overseeing pastor
